Airport Shuttle meets every flight coming into Louis Armstrong International Airport. Proceed from baggage claim to the transportation center for shuttle service. Fee is $20 one-way and $38 for round trip – both are per person fares. Arrangements can be made via the Hotel Monteleone website.

10:15am – 11:00am Todd Boyette, Director of Morehead Planetarium & Science Center, and John Durant, Director of MIT Museum and Founder of Science Festival Alliance, will lead discussion on Science Festivals.

11:00am INSECTARIUM The Audubon Institute Insectarium, located in the U.S. Custom House on Canal Street, encourages you to use all five senses as you explore North America’s largest museum devoted to insects and their relatives. 1:30pm – 3:30pm AQUARIUM Presentation on the Aquarium, the Audubon, and Katrina challenges by Director Karyn Kearney, Executive Vice President and Manageing Director of the Audubon Nature Institute. Located on the Mississippi River adjacent to the French Quarter Audubon Aquarium of the Americas immerses you in an underwater world. The colors of a Caribbean reef come alive in our walk-through tunnel, while our penguins and Southern sea otters enchant you with their antics. Touch a sting ray, feed a parakeet, and marvel at our gigantic sharks, tarpon, and rays in the 400,000 gallon Gulf of Mexico Exhibit.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10th 9:30am – 11:30am Hotel Monteleone, Iberville Room Presentation by John Barry, author of Rising Tide: The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 and How It Changed America, who is an expert on flood control, disaster management strategies, and developing resilient communities. His discussion will address these issues.

Tour led by Park who is responsible for overseeing the Corps’ $14.6 billion Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System work in New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana, and the long-term planning of coastal restoration and hurricane damage reduction. 5:00pm Return to Hotel via St. Bernard Parish, Lower 9th, to view the neighborhood decimated by Katrina and being rebuilt with the assistance of Actor Brad Pitt.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 11th 9:00am – 10:00am Hotel Monteleone, Beauregard Room Presentation by Samuel Taylor, Director of Carnegie Museum of Natural History, on Transformative Strategic Planning and the radical reconstitution of the way the 116-year-old organization operates, creating five new "centers" to encourage its scientists and staff to do more multidisciplinary research and projects.
