Mission

Dr. Jane Lubchenco, marine ecologist and Distinguished Professor of Zoology at Oregon State University, served as a keynote speaker at the 2005 mid-winter meeting in Santa Barbara, California

The mission of the Association of Science Museum Directors is to represent and promote the interests of natural history museums and science centers, to increase their national presence, to promote a greater collaboration with other organizations, and to coordinate the activities of research, collections, and education programs within museums at the national level. The purposes of the organization are outlined in the constitution.
